Aaahhh, the big question, in what kind of community do
I want to raise my children? What type of community do I want to live in
for the rest of my life? The answer, in a nutshell, is one that is baised
on a list of ideals that I want to make sure are implimented.
-
This community will have legal standing to be able to remain the way it
is, but also have the flexibility to change, to keep up with the times
in the future, as determined by the inhabitants NOT the surrounding citys,
NOT big corporations, NOT factories, NOT ANY larger enterprise that preys
on small communitys, or individuals.
-
This community will not be a drain on the ecology. In an ideal setting,
it will contribute to the ecology.
-
The inhabitants will work toward solutions for more ecological and practical
solutions to current problems.
-
The buisnesses within the community work together to provide services for
eachother, ie. the horse stables donate the manure to a compost owned by
a farmer. The farmer in turn donates the left over food to the horse stables
and the cattle farm down the road.
-
The community will work towards educating the children as well as adults
through a series of programs.
-
The community works on the basic principle of the golden rule. Both towards
its members and the surrounding communitys.
-
The community will help other similar communitys start up, but will not
include them into their rule structure. This type of community would
crumble under a large government type structure. This does not exclude
the community however from including other members of different communitys
in their programs or participating in other community activities. It also
does not exclude them either from informing the other community of what
their rules are so that the other community can modify or adapt the rules
for their community.
-
The community and its inhabitants will offer information on any and all
services they provide under a general open source
type environment.
I haven't been able to work out what type of government this community
would work under, but I would like to fashion the first stipulation after
the ranchers in Colorado. As far as I have heard, they have turned their
land over to a trust so that developers (both buisness and real estate)
wouldn't be able to force them out of their occupation. If you have any
more information on this so I can be more specific here, please tell
me.
Also, if you have any other ideas for this community or ways to impliment
them, please don't hesitate to write.
All of your comments will be posted here, names witheld unless you specify
otherwise. In any event, your name will be added to the list of contributors
to this community. I will add my own ideas and comments to yours in the
same place.
