It's placed in the aproximate location of where they think his body is. He is the only musician who was not moved to the Zentralfriedhof. The popular belief that he could not afford a funeral service has been perpetuated because the govenor at the time of Mozart's death had decreed that no one was to have a personal grave, all people were to be buired in a mass grave.
