On the bus heading to the airport to go to DebConf 11, I chanced to sit down beside an older Croatian gentleman. If I've ever met another Croatian living in Portland before now, they did not have occasion to make themselves known to me.

He spoke highly of Tito at some length, and of Tito's success at holding the Russians at bay in the 1960s when the rest of the Communist block was being held there by the thumb of the Russian military. If I've ever met another person living anywhere who approved of Tito, they've not had occasion to make that opinion known to me either.

Wacky experiences like that are why I love Portland's mass transit network.
